How to redesign your old website with AI
Published 2 November 2026The short answer
Keep the old site running while you build the new one. Give an AI builder your current address so it can read the structure and content, review the redesigned draft page by page, then switch your domain over when it is ready. Orivox's 'Redesign an existing website' mode does exactly this: you provide a URL, it scans the site and produces a refreshed version.
Before you start: note what already works
- Which pages bring visitors from Google? Keep their addresses and content themes.
- What do customers actually use: the phone number, a price list, a booking link?
- What is wrong: slow, not mobile friendly, out of date, hard to edit?
Build the new one beside the old one
Do not replace the live site while you experiment. On Orivox you paste your current address into the builder, choose to redesign an existing website, and it scans the pages and produces a modern version. The old site stays live at your domain until you decide otherwise.
Check the draft like a skeptic
- Compare page by page with the old site. Is every service, price and contact detail still there?
- Look for text the tool rewrote and read it critically. Facts and claims must still be true.
- Test every link, form and button, on a phone as well as on a computer.
- Replace any generic images with your own.
Switch over without losing visitors
- Keep important page addresses the same where you can. If an address must change, set up a redirect from the old one.
- Switch your domain to the new site only when the draft is approved.
- Afterwards, check that your Google Business Profile points to the right address and look at Search Console for errors in the following weeks.
Common questions
Will redesigning my site hurt my Google ranking?
It can if addresses change or content disappears. Keeping addresses and the content that already ranks, and redirecting any address that changes, protects most of it.
Does the AI copy my old text?
It reads your site's structure and content to build the new version. Review the result: it may rephrase, and you are responsible for accuracy.
Can I redesign a site that was built on another platform?
You give the builder the address of the live site, which is how Orivox reads it. Results vary with how a site is built, so review the draft carefully. Moving the domain is a separate step.
