Is there a 100% free AI website builder? What it costs

Published 2 November 2026

The short answer

A website builder can be free to start, but a site that is 100% free in every respect rarely exists. The costs that appear later are a custom domain, more AI credits, more sites and extra storage. On Orivox the free plan is free with no card and no time limit, with one site, a free Orivox address and 100 MB of storage.

We make Orivox, so treat this as the publisher's view. Every figure for another company comes from that company's own pricing page, read on 2 November 2026; prices change and vary by country, so check before you buy.

What 'free' can mean

  • Free to try: a trial that ends, such as Squarespace's and Hostinger's 14 days.
  • Free to start: a free plan with limits, such as the ones on Orivox, Wix, Durable and Framer.
  • Free software, paid everything else: tools you host yourself still need a server and a domain.

The costs that appear later

  • Domain. Your own address is typically a paid-plan feature, plus a registration fee if you do not own one.
  • AI credits. Creating and editing use credits, and free plans give a small monthly amount.
  • More sites. A free plan is usually one site.
  • Storage. Many photos use it up. Orivox's free plan has 100 MB.
  • Your time. A free builder you fight with is not free. A fast first draft is worth comparing before price.

What is free on Orivox, exactly

Free: $0, one site, 5 AI credits a month plus 15 on signup, 100 MB of storage.

There is no card needed to start and no time limit on the free plan. The paid plans add your own domain, plus hosting and SSL:

  • Single Site: $5 a month or $50 a year, one site, 40 AI credits a month, hosting and SSL included, one custom domain, 2 GB of storage
  • 5 Sites: $15 a month or $150 a year, five sites, 100 AI credits a month, five domains, 10 GB of storage

A test of any 'free' claim

  1. Read the plan page for the words 'domain', 'credits' and 'sites'.
  2. Publish a test site and look at the address.
  3. Note what changes between the free and the cheapest paid plan. That difference is the price you will actually pay.

Common questions

Can I get a website completely free forever?

You can keep a simple site on a free plan with no time limit on some builders, including Orivox. It will use a platform address, not your own domain.

Is a free website builder safe to use for a business?

For a small business site, yes, as long as you check that your contact details are right and understand the address it will publish on.

Do I need a credit card for a free plan?

Not for Orivox's free plan. Other builders differ, so read the signup page before you start.

Describe your business in a sentence or two and Orivox builds the first draft of your website. The free plan needs no credit card.
